The Study in Canada Scholarships program, supported by Global Affairs Canada, is now open for applications for the 2025-2026 academic year. This program seeks to enhance Canada’s international relationships by providing short-term exchange opportunities for international students from select countries, including those in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Eligible countries from MENA include Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia.
Program Overview
This scholarship program is aimed at students who are currently enrolled full-time at post-secondary institutions in their home countries and are interested in pursuing short-term studies or research in Canada. It offers a platform for academic exchanges that not only enrich the educational experiences of the visiting students but also benefit the Canadian institutions involved. Participants will have the opportunity to experience different academic environments, boost their research capabilities, and establish international networks.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
- Be a citizen of Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, or Tunisia.
- Be enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution in their home country.
- Continue to pay tuition fees to their home institution during their time in Canada.
Candidates are not eligible if they:
- Hold or are applying for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Are already benefiting from a Canadian government-funded scholarship.
- Are currently enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program at a Canadian institution.
Scholarship Value and Duration
The scholarship offers different amounts based on the study level and duration:
- $10,200 CAD for undergraduate or graduate students for at least four months or one academic term.
- $12,700 CAD for graduate students (master’s and PhD) for five to six months.
These funds are meant to cover various expenses including visa or study/work permit fees, airfare, health insurance, and living costs such as accommodation, utilities, food, public transportation, along with books and supplies needed for the student’s study or research.
Application Process
Applications for the scholarship must be submitted by Canadian post-secondary institutions on behalf of the candidates. Therefore, interested students should contact the international office at their home institution to express interest and check for any existing exchange agreements with Canadian institutions. If an agreement is in place, the Canadian institution will then apply for the scholarship on the student’s behalf. The deadline for applications is March 18, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
